The State of The Nation; #IamBaga #IamNigeria

Couple of things have been weighing on my mind this past couple of weeks, Elections are around the corner and for some reason the Insurgency in the north have increased hence the #IamBaga #PrayForNigeria Lets not forget the #BringBackOurGirls at this rate I highly doubt they would ever be brought back.
Nigeria is in a state of mass hysteria and nobody even realizes it. Thanks to the likes of Alicia Keys who sing about it and Madonna who posts about it. To be honest people in diaspora and foreigners understand how much of a problem Boko Haram is and we Nigerians don't even care. At least we are chilling in Lagos, Boko Haram no touch us and we don't care. The number of people that have died since the Boko Haram thing started even Federal Government don't have adequate figures. If you as a citizen chilling in the Southern part of the country is not bothered, then why will the president who has 519 million naira for kitchen budget, who probably doesn't realize we still have a problem with electricity in the country because he has light 24/7 in Aso Rock  and whose children are safely hidden abroad care about the state of the North?. Yep that is the sad state of the country we live in.

I remember vividly only a couple of days back just a few days after over 2000 people are killed like chickens in Baga and Nigerian Twittersphere was only interested in talking about Buhari's Sperm and Buhari's daughter. I still cannot understand neither can I fathom nor relate with how easily distracted we are by our problems and the fact that they are not being solved. We would rather castigate Goodluck Ebele Jonathan rather than address the state of the nation. Its a shame especially with all the bulls*t in the media. Amnesty International has more documented facts about Boko Haram attacks than our own media houses. The only thing they care about is running political campaign ads and we the citizens only care about pretty daughters on social media. Take a look at what happened with Charlie Hebdo and how the terrorists responsible were captured and the world stood up for them. Can we say same of Nigeria? The world doesn't care because we don't care ourselves, we the citizens of this great nation Nigeria.

Let me categorically state that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is not the cause of the insurgency in the north neither is Buhari the voice of God. Its easy to throw stones at a glass house and it is easy to sit on the fence. I am not saying I am impressed with Goodluck's method of ruling, he disappointed the bulk of us but then again we run for anything we feel represents change even if that thing is not necessarily the change we need and then we are back to square one. It happened with Obasanjo, Same with Goodluck and we are about to do same with Buhari.

We were gullible enough to fall for the I had no shoes story; to be honest you all fell for it, we were more interested in the fact that he had no shoes and his name was Goodluck and he was synonymous with luck hence the luck would rub off on us as opposed to strategies he intended to use in moving the country foward. That is the state of the average mentality of any Nigerian. You voted him into office and GBAM! story changed! I see all sorts of memes and write ups and I laugh.

People want change, vote one airhead out bring in another. Change is far off from these lands. We speak about corruption in GEJ's regime, was there no corruption in Obasanjo's regime or was there no corruption when Buhari was in power? Blame the system do not blame Goodluck. #IAMNOTINSUPPORTOFCORRUPTION

Buhari went and made Pastor Osinbajo his running mate as an indication that religion doesn't matter and he brings peace. Truth is even Erastus Akingbola was the highest giver in church and he turned out to be a thief. The sooner we realize they all don't care about us the better. Lets stop falling for anything that glitters on the surface and search for diamonds in the rough. I will patiently be waiting for 2019 hopefully we get a more befitting candidate then. Let me categorically state that I will not be voting come february 2015.

Buhari wins, he ends the Boko Haram insurgency then the Niger Delta boys rise up and then unrest in the Niger Delta starts again. Its all chop I chop mentality. We are just the grass they trample upon.

As for Lagos State: Jimi Agbaje is my man for Lagos but being as Ambode is Tinubu's stooge am sure he's already won the elections. I mean Tinubu owns Lagos (or so he thinks), Ambode already walks like he is governor to be honest. We were extremely lucky with Fashola but I am not so sure about Ambode.
*fingercrossed*

Let me state that Lagos does not belong to any political party but to Lagosians and we have the power to vote in who we want as Governor of the state. But hey what do I know I am just a small girl chirping on my blog.

In conclusion politics is exasperating and even I cannot keep up. Let us not forget to pray for the peace of our nation and that in due time we get a leader who is ready to move us forward but also as Nigerians we need a change of attitude a little bit more care for one another. On a Final note, I salute all our fallen heroes.

Be Good to one another!.......XO

  1. I know right, politics is just really exasperating. And yes! it feels like people outside of Nigeria are sometimes more concerned about the state of things in Nigeria, than Nigerians in Nigeria are.

It's true what you said that GEJ is not the cause of the insurgency. But the truth is no matter how much we all cry out loud about the state of things, there is only so much we can do. That is where our leaders come in. We elected them there because we trusted them to safeguard the nation. It is therefore their jobs to NOT let us down. I didn't think GEJ was the man for the job, and I still don't think he is. He is a good man in his own right, probably, but ruling Nigeria demands a kind of tenacity GEJ does not posses. We no there is no one saviour, but we just have to have a little faith. That's where elections come in. So maybe people did fall for his 'i have no shoes story' lol, I don't blame them cos there is no real way of being hundred percent certain a candidate will perform when he gets elected. Hopefully, this election changes things for the better. But if it does not, the next election is also there. The power belongs to we, the people.

May God bless our country. Sigh

  3. Impressive. Dint know you have it in you. Haha "small girl chirping on her blog", small girl indeed. Nigerian politics is all about pocket ambitions. U see almost half of PDP members defecting to APC for better positions. Bunch of thieves moving from left to right. To crown this, we have a president who says he get conflicting reports as an excuse for his weakness. For christ sake you are the president, the GCFR abi u don't know what that means. U need to listen to his campaign to hear the nonsense he talks about : do you( Nigerians) want more prisons or more jobs, abeg ask him how many jobs he has created in 6 years. Instead he grants amnesty to leaders looting money, one even disguised as woman to flee a country. He removed Governor sanusi from office when he spoke out about money theft in the oil sector. He Don't forget the oil subsidy removal in 2012. In 2011 we thought he was the change due to the information we had but he disappointed us. He has to go. Buhari might mot be the best but he his sure better. At least he his not afraid to deal with people. JK on the other hand has always been unlucky always coming up against one with strong political backing. If na another state he go win but lagos lailai. APC will never want to loose lagos for any reason.

  4. Evi, you said it all, but on the part of Jimi Agbaje, I think he lacks the charisma to even be a group leader not to talk of being a governor. I have listened to him and am not quite impressed. But on the main issue here, we should all pray for a fast REVOLUTION. God bless us all. Nice piece Evi.
